South Fulton Remains Unbeaten at 6-0

The South Fulton Middle School football team improved to 6-0 on the season following another powerful performance on the ground.

Kade Clanton led the Red Devils’ rushing attack with 92 yards on four carries, while Gavin Goldbeck added 87 yards on four carries. Abe Morris rushed for 24 yards on two carries, and Gavin Adams contributed 14 yards on two carries. Jamarriee Eaton added three yards, while Daveon Pettigrew finished with two carries for minus-five yards.

Defensively, Noah Hedge recorded three tackles, while Evan Mohr and Holden Crabtree each had two tackles.

South Fulton Middle will put its unbeaten record on the line Thursday at Dresden. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

The Obion County Middle School Cross-Country teams are the Best of the West!

In the boys race, John Wyatt Sawyer led the team with a ninth-place finish, followed by Noah Chandler in 14th and Ryder Willoughby in 17th.

The girls were led by Bella Ross, who finished fourth overall. Davie Wilds placed seventh, followed by Nora Wilds in 10th, Haegan Eaves in 13th, Emrie Hicks in 14th, Lynlee Butts in 15th and Addie Easterwood in 16th.

OCMS also had eight runners earn medals in the JV race: Kinley Burress, Kensley Hamil, Elena Erwin, Joanna Elam, Bella Johnson, Matilda Williams, Trey Elam and Harlee Hunter.

The OCMS Rebels' strong performances and determination throughout the meet helped both teams bring home Best of the West championships. Keep making us proud OCMS XC!

OCCHS Cross Country Teams Compete at Lexington Invitational
The OCCHS Cross-Country teams made their mark at the Lexington Invitational, with the girls claiming the team championship and the boys finishing third.
The girls won the team title with 45 points, led by KLicey Campbell, who finished fifth overall in 23:22. Chloe Adcock placed 13th in 25:13, followed by Avery Coffey in 16th at 25:31. Riley Moore finished 25th in 27:53, while Katy Frazier placed 29th in 28:07. Jillian Menees also turned in a powerful performance for the team.
The boys team finished third with 142 points. Briar Lofton led the team with a 21st-place finish in 19:50. Carter Molands placed 27th in 20:20, followed by Zack Chumley in 34th at 20:35. Bryce Hutcheson finished 39th in 20:56, while Ryder Hutcheson placed 41st in 21:00. Sawyer Homra finished 44th in 21:21, and Jonathan Schierbaum placed 66th in 22:51. Cameron Homra and Chayden Cleek rounded out the boys’ lineup of strong runners.

Cross Country Teams Represent Well at Recent Meets

Obion County Middle School Cross-Country runners turned in strong performances at the UTM Captain’s Challenge and the Tomcat Invitational, with both the boys' and girls' teams earning back-to-back champions.
The UTM Captain’s Challenge was highlighted by an overall championship for John Wyatt Sawyer. Ryder Willoughby followed closely with a fourth-place finish, Noah Chandler placed fifth and Harvey Nazarin finished sixth.
The girls also posted impressive results with Davie Wilds finishing second overall and Nora Wilds taking third. Lynlee Butts rounded out the top five with a fifth-place finish.
The pair of Cross-Country teams kept the momentum going at the Tomcat Invitational.
On the boys’ side, John Wyatt Sawyer led the way with a fifth-place finish, followed by Ryder Willoughby in seventh and Noah Chandler in 11th. Harvey Nazarin finished 20th, while Logan Evans placed 21st.
The boys also had two runners earn medals in the junior varsity competition, with Harley Hunter and Mitchell Buecholz recognized for their performances.
The girls were led by Bella Ross, who finished third overall. Nora Wilds placed fifth, followed by Davie Wilds in eighth, Haegan Eaves in ninth and Emrie Hicks in 10th. Lynlee Butts finished 15th, with Addie Easterwood 16th, Kinley Burress 17th, Elena Erwin 21st, Kinsley Hamil 22nd and Jojo Elam 23rd.
In the girls’ junior varsity race, Bella Johnson claimed the JV championship. Matilda Williams, Maelyn Tyler and Faith Molands also earned medals.
The strong individual finishes highlighted another productive meet for the cross-country program as runners continued to gain experience and compete at a high level. Way to go OCMS!

Seventh graders at South Fulton Middle School recently got a taste of the real world as they participated in a hands-on Financial Fair sponsored by Leaders Credit Union. The Financial Fair is designed to teach important lessons about budgeting, financial decision-making, and managing everyday expenses.

During the Financial Fair, students were given realistic scenarios that included an income and a variety of expenses. Armed with their assigned financial situations, students visited different stations where they were responsible for paying bills, making financial decisions, and working to balance their budgets.

As students moved through the activity, they quickly discovered that making their money stretch is not always as easy as it sounds. From determining which expenses were necessities to making choices about wants, students were challenged to think carefully about how each decision could impact their overall budget.

The Financial Fair provided students with an engaging opportunity to apply financial literacy skills in a practical setting. The experience encouraged students to consider the importance of budgeting, prioritizing needs versus wants, and making thoughtful financial decisions.

By participating in this interactive activity, South Fulton Middle School's 7th graders gained valuable insight into the financial responsibilities they will face as they grow older. The Financial Fair demonstrated that smart financial choices can make a significant difference when it comes to managing money and preparing for the future.
The hands-on experience was a valuable way for students to connect classroom learning to real-world situations while developing skills that can serve them well throughout their lives.

South Fulton Football Remains Unbeaten at 5-0

The South Fulton Middle School football team continues to roll, improving to 5-0 on the season following another strong performance on both sides of the ball.

The Red Devils were led on the ground by Gavin Goldbeck, who carried the ball nine times for 111 yards. Holden Crabtree added 84 yards on eight carries, while Kade Clanton rushed eight times for 44 yards. Abe Morris contributed 10 yards on four carries.

Crabtree also completed two of three passes for 13 yards. Kade Clanton hauled in one reception for nine yards, while Jase Long added a four-yard reception.

Defensively, South Fulton was led by Silas Williams and Kade Clanton, who recorded four tackles each. Clanton also came up with a key fumble recovery. Evan Mohr added three tackles for the Red Devils.

With a perfect 5-0 record, South Fulton will look to keep its undefeated season going when the Red Devils travel to Fulton County on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

South Fulton High School’s Beta Club is celebrating an outstanding year of achievement after earning the prestigious 2025–26 National Beta School of Distinction designation. In addition to the club’s national recognition, Beta sponsors Andy Zimmerman and Brandi Cantrell (pictured L to R) have been named recipients of the Educator of Excellence Award.
The National Beta School of Distinction recognition honors Beta clubs that demonstrate excellence in academics, leadership, service, and overall student achievement. The designation reflects the dedication and hard work of Beta members throughout the school year.
Cantrell and Zimmerman’s Educator of Excellence recognition is an especially significant accomplishment. To qualify for the award, sponsors must meet several rigorous requirements, including earning the School of Distinction Award, earning the School of Merit Award, attending a Leadership Summit, State Convention, and/or National Convention with Beta students, and achieving the Pillar of Service Award.
The selectivity of the award makes the accomplishment even more impressive. Of more than 8,500 Beta clubs and 20,000 sponsors nationwide, only 60 clubs and 170 sponsors earned this recognition.

South Fulton High School's Collaboration Connection team recently competed in the National Beta Competition and brought home first place in the nation. The Collaboration Connection challenge is designed for students to put their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills to the test. The performance- and task-based challenge gives students a problem to solve with no opportunity to prepare in advance. This year, teams were given a task and just three minutes or less to work together, develop a solution, and complete the challenge. The team consisted of (pictured L to R): Mr. Andy Zimmerman, South Fulton High School Beta Club sponsor; Brooke Burcham; Abby Eldredge; Brea Becerra; and Ms. Brandi Cantrell, South Fulton HS Beta Club Sponsor. South Fulton Middle School Football continued its strong start to the football season, improving to 3-0 with another impressive team performance beating Ballard County 32-6.

The South Fulton rushing attack was led by Gavin Goldbeck, who carried 16 times for 90 yards. Kade Clanton added 92 yards on 12 carries, while Holden Crabtree rushed six times for 50 yards. Abe Morris contributed 21 yards on five carries, with Daveon Pettigrew and Jamariee Eaton each adding two yards.

Crabtree also completed 2 of 7 passes for 30 yards. Morris hauled in a 28-yard reception, while Clanton added a two-yard catch.

Defensively, Goldbeck had a standout night with seven tackles and two interceptions. Clanton and Crabtree each recorded three tackles.

With the victory, South Fulton moves to 3-0 on the season and will look to keep its unbeaten record intact when the team travels to Greenfield on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Keep going Red Devils!
